Federal Workers Lament the Non-Payment of 4 months N35,000 Wage Award
- By solomon2day
- On 18/01/2024
- In News
An unspecified number of federal workers in Nigeria have expressed reservations over the payment of only one month of the N35,000 wage award by the Federal Government.
The workers made their reservations known through a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''The Federal government promised six months. It only paid for September 2023 and stopped thereafter. As I speak to you October, November and December have only been paid to some workers, while others are yet to be paid. It will soon be four months that a number of workers have not got the wage award. Even if the government pays today, the purpose of the wage award has already been defeated, it may not at this moment impact positively on the lives of the affected federal workers,''Comrade Emelieze stated.

- In News
The explosion that rocked Adeyi avenue in the old Bodija Government Reservation Area of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria on Tuesday night has left in its trail an unspecified number of deaths, injured citizens, homeless and several still unaccounted for. Indeed, the mindset of Those-in-Authority, on lawlessness, indiscipline, criminality and evil, long before the incident speaks volumes.
In this interview, Prophet Timothy Arabambi of the Christ Apostolic Church(C.A.C) Ile-Atunse, Olunloyo-Akanran road condoles with the families of the deceased and prays for the quick recovery of the injured.
Excerpts:
What is your reaction to the explosion that rocked the old Bodija residential area on Tuesday night?
My advice is for the good people of Oyo state to remain calm. My condolences go to the families who lost loved ones in the explosion. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace. And for the injured, my prayer is for God to grant them quick recovery in the name of Jesus. Amen. I also pray that help from above will come to them, and they will tell a story, a good story. They should not lose hope, but have trust in God. When there is life, there is hope. I appreciate all the security agencies for all their efforts during these trying times. In addition, the media should also be commended for throwing more light on the incident.
I have this trust and belief in the Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde. He directed that immediate care should be given to the injured. He also directed the relevant agencies of government to provide temporary accommodation for those displaced as a result of the explosion. He has provided succor for the victims of the unfortunate incident. I also pray for our amiable governor. May God give him more knowledge and wisdom to continue to lead us well. The actions of our amiable governor show that he has love for God and humanity. I pray that in Oyo state and Nigeria, we will not have such an occurrence again. God bless Nigeria and bless us as well.

Nigerians are full of hopes that the Federal Government will actualize the long awaited digital switch over this year.
This assertion was made by the Chef Executive Officer of Jagaban Communications International, Mr. Samuel Adenitan.
''The analogue system of broadcast is no longer the trend in several countries of the world. We expect a digital switch over this year. It started in 2010, and another attempt was made in 2012. I think it is high time for Nigeria to completely switch over . The National Broadcasting Commission just switched on . The Federal Government would be responsible for providing set up boxes for homes in the country. In addition the government should allow key stakeholders to invest or participate in the distribution and generation of signals,'' Mr. Adenitan stated.
He maintained that the proliferation of private radio stations was healthy for the country, saying'' this encourages opinions to be expressed and molded across different strata of the society.''
''However, stakeholders should pay attention to the ethical and professional practices while carrying out their assignments so that the society will be better informed for the nation to be better off for it,'' he concluded.

The sins of the leadership and followership in Nigeria from the foundation of the myriad of problems affecting the country.
This assertion was made by Rev(Dr.) Olaolu Oyekanmi of the Amos World Outreach, the Christian Fellowship Evangelical Mission(CFEM), Moniya-Iseyin, Ijaiye-Orile, Ibadan, Nigeria.
''The major problem of the country revolves around the leadership and the followership. They have committed sins. If Nigerians can easily repent of their sins and change their behavior, activities and attitude, all will change for the better.''
''The problems are not the change of leadership or change of political parties, but have more to do with the change of mind. If Nigerians don't change, things will not change for the better. Those-in Authority and Those-in-Charge are from different homes. There must be a change,'' Rev(Dr.) Oyekanmi stated.
He also disclosed that a three day crusade tagged ''The Only Way to Save you and Nigeria'' would hold from Sunday 14the January to Tuesday 16th January 2024 at the the Mapo hall, Ibadan, Nigeria from 5.00 pm each day.

Federal workers in Nigeria have expressed hopes that the present administration would soon fix an acceptable living wage to cushion the hardships and sufferings of workers on the land.
The workers made this known through a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''Workers in Nigeria are full of hopes that the Federal Government would soon announce a living wage that would put an end to their sufferings and tales of woes. In this respect, N300,000 is a living wage,''Comrade Emelieze stated.
He also called on labor leaders to be democratic by embarking on exhaustive consultations before reaching decisions, adding'' rather than hasty decisions taken by labor bureaucrats without consultations.''

I don't have Slaves in my Palace-Oluwo
- By solomon2day
- On 30/12/2023
The Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdul Rasheed Akanbi has disclosed that there are no slaves in his palace in Iwo, Osun state, Nigeria.
Oba Akanbi made this disclosure recently in a lecture titled CONSTITUTIONAL ROLES FOR ROYAL FATHERS at the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers' Union of Nigeria(RATTWU) Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state(BCOS) chapter, Oyo state, Nigeria.
''I don't have slaves in my palaces, all those in my palace receive monthly salaries,'' Oba Akanbi stated.
In his remarks, the RATTAWU chairman, Comrade Kolapo Carew, expressed gratitude to God for protecting members of the union all through the year, adding, ''our governor paid our Christmas salaries on the 14th of December. He has also paid the wage award, and he will soon pay the 13th month salaries.''
However, federal workers have lamented the stoppage of the N35,000 wage award.
The workers made this known through a former chairman of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) in Oyo state, Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''Salaries have remained the same while prices of goods and services have tripled within this period. We are surprised to note that the meager 35,000 naira wage award grudgingly given to the federal workers by the federal government to cushion the effects of the economic crisis caused by the subsidy removal has been stopped. The federal government paid only one month out of the six months promised. ''
''We, the federal government workers feel betrayed by the federal government. Our employer has been very unfair and unfaithful to us. We have not been treated as if we matter. We are citizens, we are not beggars, and we are supposed to be worthy of a fair wage. We, the federal workers, feel cheated. ''

May God grant the family, the people of Ondo state and Nigeria as a whole the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. He was a governor who performed wonderfully well. His sickness destabilized Ondo state for more than six months, only to result in his death. I pray that God will stabilize the state government, '' Dr. Shittu stated.

Despite the economic hardships brought about by the removal of the fuel subsidy, millions of Nigerians are still smiling because they have Jesus Christ in them. I am appealing to all and sundry to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior,'' Prophet Arabambi stated.

The strangulating inflation, prohibitive prices of goods and services and the poor performance of the Naira in the exchange market are all signposts of a faulty leadership foisted on Nigerians. This assertion was made by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''The inflation in the country has brought about untold hardships, sufferings and difficulties for millions of Nigerians, coupled with the poor showing of the Naira in the exchange market. All these are credible indicators that faulty leadership has been foisted on Nigerians and the World Bank knows this fact and is utilizing it to the fullest. It is very glaring in all sectors of the economy,''Comrade Emelieze stated.

The Holy spirit's work is a gift of God that is freely given on the basis of faith and faith only.

11And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
19Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
21Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

Government should account for workers' housing funds deducations-Comrade Emelieze
- By solomon2day
- On 14/12/2023
- In Happenings
The Federal Government has been called upon to account for the deductions of the National Housing Fund from workers' salaries.
This call was made by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''The National Housing Funds deductions from the salaries of workers has been non-functional as workers do not have access to the loans as a result of the stringent conditions attached to the loans. The government should account for the deductions, otherwise the widespread feeling is that the NHF is a ploy to swindle workers of their hard-earned money,''Comrade Emelieze stated.
Similarly, the N35,000 wage award cannot solve the problems workers are presently experiencing.
This assertion was made by a former chairman of the National Union of Allied Health Professionals(NUAHP) University College Hospital(UCH)Ibadan, Nigeria, Comrade Olusegun Sotiloye.
There is no way that N35,000 can alleviate the sufferings of workers. It is a drop in the ocean. How can N35,000 be enough for one using a car and buying 10 litres at N600.00 per litre, calculate the cost of this for one week. What about workers without cars, they spend as much as N2,000 per day on transportation. N35,000 is not enough to take care of transportation. The wage award is a good gesture, but it is not what will solve the myriad of problems brought about by the fuel subsidy removal, Comrade Sotiloye stated.

The attitude, behavior and activities of millions of Nigerians are crucial to the visibility of the positive impact of education on their lives.
Even when the whole annual budget, once the needful by Those-in-authority is not done, salvaging the deteriorated standard of education would just be an exercise in futility.
The open display of lawlessness, indiscipline, criminality and evil in different parts of the country are pointers to the unwavering fact that education is yet to achieve its purpose in Nigeria.

The Truth is Censored in Nigeria-CEO Jagaban

The harsh and problematic economic environment in Nigeria has made the media industry vulnerable to censorship.
This assertion was made by the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Jagaban Communications International, Mr. Samuel Adenitan.
''The bad state of the economy has negatively affected the media industry. The industry is vulnerable. It has suffered greatly in this dispensation. Owners of media outlets are finding it increasingly difficult to operate and stay afloat. In Nigeria, we censor the truth. Any country that censors the truth will not be taken seriously. We have good laws, but the effectiveness of the laws constitutes a problem. In Nigeria, the truth is censored.

2024 Budget-Govt ought to make provision for New national Minimum Wage-Comrade Emelieze
- By solomon2day
- On 02/12/2023
- In Happenings
The Federal Government ought to make provision for a new national minimum wage in the 2024 appropriation bill presented to both chambers of the National Assembly.
This assertion was made by a former chairman of the Oyo state council of the Trade Union Congress(TUC), Comrade Andreww Emelieze.
''It is disturbing that the details of the 2024 appropriation bill were not made public, but the Federal Government ought to make provision for a new national minimum wage in the bill, if it is truly sensitive to the difficulties and hardships Nigerians are passing through. As at today, the N35,000 wage award cannot buy a bag of rice. In addition, the government has only paid the wage award once since it commenced payment to federal workers,'' Comrade Emelieze stated.
Similarly, health workers in Nigeria have expressed the hopes that their new salary scale would be included in the 2024 budget.
The health workers made this known through a member of the National Executive Council(NEC) of the Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU) Comrade Kehinde Abiona, who is also the chairman of the union in the University College Hospital(UCH)Ibadan, Nigeria.
''It is somehow disheartening that the reviewed CONHESS and CONMESS are yet to be implemented. The approved salary scale for health workers took effect from June 1st, 2023, but financially nothing has happened. We hope that the renewed hope agenda will not leave behind harmony in the health sector,'' Comrade Abiona concluded.

Mallam Ribadu had disclosed that the present administration was contending with very serious budget constraints and confessed that they inherited a bankrupt country.
He also stressed that at present the government was taking care of the debts of the immediate past administration.

Make Business Environment Conducive to save Broadcast Industry-CEO Jagaban Communications International

The Federal Government has been called upon to urgently rescue industries that are daily folding up in Nigeria as a result of the harsh economic climate. This call was made Saturday by the Chief Executive Officer of Jagaban Communications International, Mr. Samuel Adenitan in a chat with New Federation.
''The situation in the manufacturing, agricultural, power and other sectors is worrisome. Businesses are folding up, the economic environment is not conducive for business, there is no regular electricity supply and the prices of petroleum products are so high that it is almost beyond the reach of Nigerians. The Federal Government should take urgent steps to stem the tide to save the broadcast industry..''
''Today, so many companies have either folded up or divested from the country. This development has negatively affected private television and radio stations in the country in terms of sponsorships and advertisements,'' Mr. Adenitan stated.

NBA Member attempts Illegal sale of a house in Ibadan

A member of the Ibadan branch of the Nigeria Bar Association(NBA)Ibadan branch on Thursday 23rd November 2023 accompanied by thugs broke into a building at 3, Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.
The trespassers placed a banner with the inscription, ''For Sale PROPERTY/LAND-contact-
The lawyer on 08057321344/0806762694, in a desperate attempt to sell off the property without the consent of the sole occupant.
Before this time, On Thursday 9th November 2023 at about 9.30 am at 3, Kehinde Aderibigbe Street, Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo state, a lawyer with phone number-08053721344- alongside four thugs made an abortive attempt to serve a harmless citizen a letter in the midst of intimidation and threats from the thugs. However, the citizen bluntly refused to accept the letter.
This development was trailed by unthinkable actions of four operatives of the Nigeria Legion Corps of Commissionaires, who supervised the damaging of the padlocks of the two gates to the house and the pulling down of the doors of three flats in the building and making away with all the locks, two chains, and padlocks.
However, it is curious that the assailants opted to forcefully convey the only occupant of the building to the Iyaganku Central Police Station on a motorcycle after they concluded the lawless act.
At the police station, they were told by a senior female police officer that Olorunsogfo, Molete was not within the station's jurisdiction.
This turn of events made them quickly seek the assistance of the administrative officer of the Iyagnaku Area Command.
Sadly, at the administrative officer's office, threats, intimidation, and warnings were tools used by all those present to persuade the harmless citizen to sign an agreement, which he politely refused.
For so long, those in charge of law and order have acted contrary to what the law states in issues concerning members of the public. This has indeed made millions of Nigerians lose confidence in the law enforcement agencies.

UCH Ibadan Patients lament high costs of Medical Reports
- By solomon2day
- On 25/11/2023
- In Happenings
An unspecified number of patients in the University College Hospital(UCH) Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria have expressed reservations over the high cost of obtaining medical reports.
The patients, who spoke incognito, lamented that they were made to part with N6,000 before they could be issued with the hospital's medical report at the records office.
''We were told that we could only be given a medical report on the payment of N6,000 in these hard times, it is beyond reach,'' they lamented.
However, the hospital's reaction, the Public Relations Officer, Mrs Adetuyibi Obafunmilayo disclosed that the hospital charges N6,000 for medical reports, adding,'' The patient makes a request for a medical report, while all the tests conducted on the patient are in his or her case note. Medical records officers do not write medical reports. It is the duty of medical consultants.''
''Yes, we do charge for our medical reports. The money we charge is N6,000. This forms part of the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) of the hospital that we use to produce medical reports. The money goes to the Treasury Single Account(TSA). Medical consultants don't collect cash from patients, it is against our policy,'' Mrs. Obafunmilayo stated.
On the Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions(NASU)UCH branch, the PRO insisted that the Chief Medical Director was not behind the miscreants who invaded and sealed up the NASU office.
''When the issue of NASU election came up, there was a crisis and a report was made by the chairman and a panel was set up. The panel submitted its report and management wrote to the national headquarters of NASU, but they are yet to respond,'' the PRO concluded.
